Partition of India
Pakistan was declared an independent nation at midnight, on August 14th, 1947. The Bengal province was divided into two regions, western Bengal ceding to India, and Eastern Bengal becoming East Pakistan. Similarly, the Punjab province was divided into west and east, with the western region becoming part of India, and the eastern region part of Pakistan. After nearly half a century of fighting for their independence, the Muslims, the minority had won!

Religious Significance of Pakistan's IndependencePakistan gained its independence on a very holy night in the Muslim calendar. In Islam, Jummat-ul-Widah is consider the best night of the year and created a very sacred and joyful atmosphere when Pakistan's-"The Land of the Pure", independence was announced.

Today is Jummat-ul-Wida, last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan,a day of rejoicing for all of us wherever we may be in this vast sub-continent and for the matter of that throughout the world. Let the Muslim congregations in their thousands, in all the mosques, bow in all humility before the Almighty and thank Him for His eternal kindness and generosity, seeking His guidance and assistance in the task of making Pakistan into a great State and themselves into its worthy citizens.
